Is Heating Oil Safe?

Heating OilIf you are thinking of moving into a home that has a heating-oil system and are worried about it being safe, don’t be. Heating-oil is one of the safest heating fuels there are. In fact, if you were to drop a lit match into the heating-oil it would extinguish just as if you had dropped the match into water.

Energy is extracted from heating oil using a special oil burning surface. This system allows the oil to be burned in exchange for heat energy. And although heating-oil has been in use for many years, it is still one of the cleaner and safer forms of heating sources there are.

Over the past 20 years, marked improvements have been made to heating-oil. The amount of sulfur in the oil has been reduced by 93%, leaving a sulfur content as low as 0.5%, In fact, in an issue of Oil & Energy, it was reported that a German group of scientists found that heating oil is more environmentally friendly than gas.

Heating-oil burns about 16% more efficiently than gas. Furthermore, modern heating equipment has an estimated life-expectancy of around 30 years. So, you literally get the most bang for your buck.

If you are thinking of replacing your current heating furnace, you should really consider a heating-oil replacement. Heating-oil is efficient, safe and plentiful.
